  • Ph.D. in Geography. Rutgers The State University of New Jersey.  Department of Geography.  New Brunswick, NJ.  January 2012. Concentration in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), participatory planning, and library sciences.  Dissertation: Urban Geospatial Digital Neighborhood Areas: Urban GeoDNA (Ph.D. 2012). This study examines knowledge production from a community perspective. A data development framework was created by integrating metadata from the library sciences, participatory planning theory, and geospatial analysis to assemble, manage, and analyze a variety of multisource, multiscale, and multitemporal datasets.

  • Master of Arts in Geography.  Hunter College of the City University of New York - CUNY.  Geography Department.  September 2000. Concentration in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and neighborhood analysis.  Thesis: Understanding the Impacts of Information on the Urban Environment (M.A. 2000). This study examines the distribution of a series of countywide environmental complaints and compares them with the local socioeconomic and participatory planning data for the communities of The Bronx, NY, to understand the role neighborhood participation plays in the production of local knowledge.

New Brunswick, NJ.  October 1986.  Concentration in community planning and cartography.  Thesis: The Gay Community of New York City (B.A. 1986). This study incorporated literature research, data collection, unstructured interviews, and mapping with members of the gay community to examine the growth and spatial distribution of LGBT neighborhoods in New York City.
